Pro Basketball Coming to Franklin
WBA Franchise Knights to call A-Game Home!

Story from Fox 17 News:

Remember the Music City Stars?  Don't feel bad - most people don't.

Nashville's American Basketball Association team existed only seven weeks before calling it quits at the end of January.

But that's not stopping another pro-basketball team from forming in the mid-state.

Three entrepreneurs are bringing the Franklin Knights - of the World Basketball Association - to Tennessee.

"We'll be really the only professional sports to come to Franklin, and we hope it's going to be an exciting time," says owner Logan Sekulow.

Beginning in May -- the Knights will play at Franklin's A-Game Sports Complex.

The players are yet to be determined. Tryouts will be held later this month.

General Manager Aaron Hodges says, "We are going to go after a lot of the seniors that have graduated from college - a lot of the local players here in Nashville that are looking to get some exposure."

The WBA is an exposure league. Players hope it can eventually land them in the NBA.

Meanwhile, Sekulow hopes the team can first land on the community's radar.

"We really just want to help the community and support the community and hopefully bring people together here."

Game-tickets will be comparably priced to a movie-ticket.

But cheap seats don't mean much if fans don't know the team exists.

"I think that's one of our greatest challenges is to bring awareness that we're bringing sports to franklin," says team business manager William Haynes.

If that can happen, local fan Patrick Williamson thinks the Knights will be a success.

"All they've got to do is get here and get a following and I think they'll be good."

Tryout dates haven't been announced yet, but are expected by the end of the month.

The Knights first home game will be May 22.

The 8-team WBA plays 16 games from May through July.
